Reflected on mid-October bills, Bartholomew County REMC members will once again see a credit in the wholesale tracker adjustment effective Oct. 1. This tracker, passed to members due to reduced cost on our Hoosier Energy power bill, will be ($0.001528) per kWh or approximately a credit of $1.53 per 1,000 kWh used. That makes the total per kWh $.107892.

The easiest explanation of a tracker is that it is a billing adjustment to cover the fluctuating cost of power we purchase and distribute from our power supplier, Hoosier Energy. The tracking mechanism recovers variable production costs (fuel — including coal and natural gas, wholesale power market purchases, operations and maintenance, and emissions regulations) incurred by Hoosier Energy. The tracker is adjusted quarterly and the amount will vary depending on your electricity use.
