As we’ve shared in recent issues of Indiana Connection, one of the things that makes Boone Power unique is that our customers are also member-owners, and each year you have the opportunity to participate in board of directors elections – whether through the petition process, serving on the nominating committee, or simply casting your vote.
With the petition deadline now past, we’re preparing the 2026 ballot. Director candidate information and voting instructions will be shared in the March issue of Indiana Connection and will also be emailed to members.
If you do not have an email address on file for your account, now is a great time to add one so you receive your voting information electronically. Members will be able to vote by email, through the SmartHub app, or with a paper ballot, and each participating member will receive a $10 bill credit. Because Boone Power is a cooperative, we follow the “one member, one vote” governance model. That means each membership – not each individual within a household – is entitled to cast one ballot.
Here’s the timeline for this year’s election:
Voting Opens: March 17
Three ways to vote:
- Online via SmartHub or email
- In person: Stop by our office
- By mail: Request a paper ballot at boonepower.com/board-of-directors or call us

Deadline to request a ballot by mail: April 8
Voting Ends: April 21 at 1 p.m.
Annual Business Meeting and director election results: April 23
Meet directors and staff between 6 and 6:30 p.m. at the BCA Building at the Boone County Fairgrounds.
