Operation Round Up scholarship recipients pose for a photo during the KVREMC annual meeting on April 11. The Operation Round Up Trust awarded a total of $4,000 in scholarships to area students whose households participate in the program.

Kankakee Valley REMC Operation Round Up awarded six local high school seniors with scholarships totaling $4,000. To be considered for the scholarship, students had to fill out an application identifying their involvement in both school and extracurricular activities, awards received and jobs held. Applicants were also asked to write an essay from the point of view of an Operation Round Up director who had to distribute grant money to organizations seeking assistance.

Each student received his/her scholarship check at the Kankakee Valley REMC annual meeting last month. This year’s $1,000 scholarship recipients were Josh Krsek, Culver Community High School, and Aubrey Houser, John Glenn High School. The $500 scholarship recipients were Hannah Swanson, South Central High School; Sara Rokosz, Washington Township High School; Melissa Rudolph, South Central High School; and Leah Huffine, Crown Point High School.

Congratulation to these outstanding students who have shown dedication in their classroom studies and commitment to the community in which they live.  Kankakee Valley REMC Operation Round Up wishes each of them much success as they continue their journey at their chosen college or university.
